Snow Leopard Server Preview – Address Book Server
June 18th, 2009
Address Book Server allows you to share your contacts with others and sync to your iPhone. You can access them from the Address Book application or other apps that use the address book database.
Previous versions of OS X Server allowed you to only utilize the LDAP directory for use with Address Book on your Mac. Now with Snow Leopard Server, Apple has added a legitimate address book server. Cards are stored in the vCard format, so as not to upset the existing LDAP database. From what Apple is saying, it appears that the two databases are kept completely separate.
